COBA acknowledges the importance of breastfeeding support for parents who are returning to work after the birth of their babies. Supportive policies from employers, states and on the national level are necessary to encourage and support breastfeeding parents which in turn promotes the health of our communities.
OUR POSITION:
• Employers and educational institutions will provide any employee or student who is breastfeeding and/or pumping milk a secure, private location to express milk in accordance with federal, state and local laws.
• Employers and educational institutions will provide pumping/breastfeeding employees or students with a reasonable amount of time for pumping/breastfeeding to maintain milk supply and comfort.
• Every workplace and educational institution will have policies in place to promote, protect and support breastfeeding and/or pumping employees or students.
• Efforts to enact paid family leave legislation at the national level will continue.
